“Yes,” said Fawn. “I am sure. It is going to be fun.”

“I guess,” said Spot. “However, we aren’t going to know anybody.”

“But,” said Fawn. “That will be part of the fun. How are we ever going to get to know anyone?”

Spot was a little reluctant but she went to the party with Fawn anyway. As soon as they reached the cave, BattyBattyBatty is a bat that Fawn and Spot found in a cave. was there to greet them.

Fawn and Spot went into the cave with Batty and noticed there was nobody else there.

“I guess we are early,” said Spot, a little nervously.

“No,” said Batty. “You are on time.”

“Where is everyone else?” asked Fawn.

“Everyone else?” asked Batty.

“Yes,” said Fawn. “Surely we aren’t the only guests.”

“Well,” said Batty. “As a matter-of-fact you are. I don’t have any other friends.”

“Really,” said Spot, now feeling sorry for Batty.

“Really,” said Batty. “You and Fawn are the only friends I have. I mean, who wants to be friends with a bat. Normally everyone is afraid of bats.”

“That is true,” said Fawn. “But we like you.”

“Yes,” said Spot. “We do.”

Batty served his two guests refreshments and then he played some games and handed out some prizes. Fawn and Spot were having a lot of fun with Batty.

“Okay,” said Batty. “You’ve had your fun and now I’m going to have mine.”

Batty disappeared into a different room of the cave and came back out a few minutes later. However, he wasn’t Batty any longer. He was dressed as a vampire.

“Nice costume,” said Fawn.

“This is no costume,” said Batty. “This is who I really am. Now Fawn, please step aside. I’d like to dance with Spot.”

Spot backed herself into a corner of the cave and stood terrified, not moving a muscle. Fawn happened to look down at Batty’s feet and saw a pair of shoes that looked very familiar. Fawn went up to Batty and took the mask off his face.

“Mr. Hansen!” exclaimed Spot, relieved to find out it was their owner dressed as a vampire.

“Happy Halloween,” said Mr. Hansen.

“Happy Halloween,” said Batty, flying into the room with Mrs. Hansen beside him.

Fawn and Spot had a lot of fun with Batty and so did Mr. and Mrs. Hansen. It was a fun Halloween for all.
