Forgetful Fred Forgets the Easter Ham

Easter Stories, Forgetful Fred Stories, Grade 4 Level

“I think there was something I am forgetting,” said Forgetful FredForgetful FredForgetful Fred is very forgetful. He is married to Sarah. He commutes to work and works at an advertising agency. He lives in a city., coming out of the grocery store. “Oh well, I can’t remember what it was. It couldn’t have been that important.”

Forgetful Fred went home. His wife, Sarah, was not home from work yet. He put the groceries away, warmed up some leftovers for dinner and went to bed early. He had a busy day planned with Sarah the next day, which was the Easter holiday.

“Forgetful Fred must have went to bed already,” said Sarah to herself when she got home from work and saw the sink full of dirty dishes. “I sure hope he remembered to pick up the Easter ham.”

Sarah filled the kitchen sink with soap and water and then put her dinner in the microwave. After eating, she did the dishes and then she looked in the fridge for the Easter ham.

“Oh dear,” said Sarah. “I bet he forgot the Easter ham.”

Sarah called the butcher shop and sure enough, Forgetful Fred did forget the Easter ham.

“I will be there in ten minutes to pick it up,” said Sarah.

“We close in half an hour,” said the butcher.

Sarah went to the butcher shop, picked up the Easter ham, came home, put it in the fridge and went to bed.

Forgetful Fred woke up very early on Easter morning. He went into the kitchen to make breakfast for Sarah, who was still sleeping.

“That ham looks good,” said Forgetful Fred to himself as he pulled out the eggs out of the fridge. “What a minute. Where did the ham come from? I remember that I was supposed to pick it up yesterday but I know that is what I forgot to do.”

“Yes,” said Sarah, just waking up and coming into the kitchen. “You did forget and I had to rush out to the butcher shop to get it when I got home from work last night.”

“I am sorry,” said Forgetful Fred, feeling bad. “I will tell you what. I will cook our Easter dinner.”

“That sounds like a good deal to me,” said Sarah, giving Forgetful Fred a kiss.

Forgetful Fred and Sarah had a wonderful Easter dinner. The only thing Forgetful Fred forgot was to turn on the burner of the stove to cook the peas.

“Even without the peas,” said Sarah. “That was a perfect Easter dinner. “Thank you!”

“You are welcome,” said Forget Fred. “Happy Easter sweetheart!”

“Happy Easter to you as well,” said Sarah.

Moral of this Story:

  • Be understanding if someone forgets something.
  • Example: Sarah picked up the Easter ham at the butcher instead of waking up Forgetful Fred to do so.
