Susan Was Able to Relax on Mother’s Day

Grade 3 Level, Mother's Day Contest 2017, Mother's Day Stories

“The house is very quiet,” said Susan on Mother’s Day morning. “I have a feeling that my family has forgotten that it is Mother’s Day. Oh well, I guess I should get up and make some breakfast.”

Susan sat up in bed and she was surprised when the family was at the door to her bedroom with a tray of bacon and eggs, toast and orange juice.

“This is so nice of you all,” said Susan. “Thank you all very much.”

Susan ate her breakfast. She then went downstairs. She had a ton of housework to do.

“Oh my!” cried Susan, shocked to see the house was sparkling clean. “Thank you so much.”

Susan sat down at the kitchen table. She thought about what her family had done for her and she was so grateful to them.

“Now,” said Susan. “What will I do for the rest of the day?”

Susan thought for a moment about what she was going to do for the rest of the day.

“I haven’t been able to take a bubble bath in a very long while,” thought Susan.

Susan took a long relaxing bubble bath. She enjoyed it so much that she almost fell asleep. After her bubble bath, Susan went out onto the front porch of her home.

“What a beautiful day,” said Susan. “The sun is shining and there isn’t a cloud in the sky.”

Susan went back into the house about an hour later. She saw her new book sitting on the coffee table in the living room. She bought the book a few weeks ago but hadn’t had time to read it.

“I finally have time to read it,” said Susan, picking the book up and reading it.

“That was the best Mother’s Day I have ever had,” said Susan to her family, later that afternoon. “I feel so refreshed and so relaxed.”

Susan’s Mother’s Day wasn’t over yet. Her family took her out for a very nice dinner.

“Thank you,” said Susan, with tears in her eyes. “This is the best Mother’s Day by far. I will never forget it. I love you all.”
