“It is a perfect summer day for practising our new material,” said Christopher Corn is part of the Fresh Veggie family. I created him in honour of Chris Cornell. Christopher Corn has a very calm attitude. He can walk into a heated argument and the sound of his voice is calming. He experiments with different instruments and is the lead singer of the new rock band, "Loud Garden". Christopher's favourite instrument is the guitar.. “It isn’t too hot and it isn’t too cold.”
“And,” said Mrs. Tomato is part of the Fresh Veggie family. She believes she was married in a previous life. She is very tender. She is afraid to say no. She plays the harp and tambourine and she also does some singing.. “It isn’t raining!”
“Very true,” said Cameron Cauliflower is part of the Fresh Veggie family. He is very caring. If someone needs a shoulder to cry on he is there. Cameron loves to dance.. “It is very hard to dance when it is raining.”
“Yes,” said Calvin Carrot is part of the Fresh Veggie family. He has a carefree attitude and he likes to give people advice. He doesn't care what others think of him. He likes to play the drums.. “It would be. I know it is hard to play the drums in the rain. I keep losing my drumsticks because my hands became so wet that they would slip out of my hands.”
The Farmer Fred owns a 100 acre farm in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He decided that instead of raising cattle he was going to grow his own vegetables instead. He was looking forward watching his fresh veggies grow. One night Farmer Fred went to bed early and it poured rain. The next morning all his vegetables had arms, legs and were able to talk. The Fresh Veggie Family consists of Christopher Corn, Olive and Oliver Onion, Mrs. Tomato, Calvin Carrot and Cameron Cauliflower. took their positions on stage and Christopher started singing the lyrics to his new song.
“All alone,” sang Christopher. “All alone, completely empty inside. No room in my heart for any of your lies. All alone. All alone.”
Christopher tried singing the chorus but for some reason, he couldn’t seem to hit the high notes the chorus required. His voice came out squeaky.
“What is going on?” screamed Christopher, angrily. “I have never had a problem hitting the high notes before?”
Christopher tried to sing the chorus again but the same thing happened.
“I can’t believe this,” said Christopher, throwing the microphone onto the floor of the stage and walking away.
“Christopher!” called Farmer Fred, who saw what had just happened. “What is going on?”
“That is what I would like to know,” said Christopher. “For some reason my voice gave out on me. I couldn’t hit the high notes. I feel so stupid.”
“There is nothing you need to feel stupid about,” said Farmer Fred. “Singers do lose their voices from time to time. It happens. Just give your voice a bit of a rest and you will feel better soon.”
“I hope you are right, “said Christopher. “I will give it a break for a few hours.”
“You know,” said Farmer Fred. “You need to be more like melted butter on a cob of corn. You have to learn to let things just roll off you.”
“Yes,” laughed Christopher. “That is very true.”
Christopher thought the analogy Farmer Fred just used about melted butter on a cob of corn was hilarious. He knew Farmer Fred was correct. He did wait a few hours and when he tried singing again, he found he was hitting the high notes perfectly.
