Beatrice Bee was flying around Bed Tyme Tales Storyland. It was a warm summer evening. She noticed a pick-up truck parked in front of a gas station. She saw a straw hat sitting on the dashboard. The windows on the truck were open. She flew into the truck and sat on the straw hat.
“Yes Mother,” Beatrice heard a young man say into his phone as he got into the truck. “I am on my way home.”
The young man started up his truck. He was about to reach for his straw hat but then he saw Beatrice sitting on it.
“Mother,” said the young man. “I have to go. There is a bee in the truck.”
“Be careful Hillbilly Bob,” said Mother. “You are allergic to bees.”
“Okay,” said Hillbilly Bob. “I will be careful”.
Hillbilly Bob set the phone down and looked at the bee.
“You aren’t going to sting me,” said Hillbilly Bob. “Are you?”
“No,” said Beatrice. “I promise I won’t sting you. My name is Beatrice Bee.”
“I am Hillbilly Bob,” said Hillbilly Bob. “It is nice to meet you. My mother said I am allergic to you.”
“I am sorry to hear that,” said Beatrice. “You have nothing to worry about. I will not sting you.”
“Good, “said Hillbilly Bob, pulling the truck out of the gas station parking lot.
“Where are we going?” asked Beatrice.
“I am going home to eat some dinner,” said Hillbilly Bob. “You are welcome to join me.”
“I would like that,” said Beatrice.
Hillbilly Bob pulled into the driveway at home. His mother was waiting on the front porch for him. She was concerned about Hillbilly Bob being around Beatrice.
“Are you sure it is a good idea to bring the bee home?” asked Mother. “You are allergic to it. What if she stings you?”
“Beatrice promised me she wouldn’t sting me,” said Hillbilly Bob.
“Okay,” said Mother. “I guess having a bee for a friend does have its benefits.”
“Yes,” laughed Hillbilly Bob. “Free honey!”
“I can bring you some honey next time I come,” said Beatrice.
“We would love that,” said Mother.
