Jen-Jen and an Early Spring …

“Today is Groundhog Day,” said Jen-Jen as she looked at her calendar. “It would be really nice if we had an early spring.”

Jen-Jen put her winter coat and winter boots on. She went outside and saw that it had been snowing. It was also very cold.

“My garden is covered in snow,” said Jen-Jen. “I can’t wait until spring comes.”

Jen-Jen loved working in her garden. She loves picking out which seeds she would use for planting. She loved tending to her garden and she loved watching her flowers grow.

“Oh look,” said Jen-Jen. “I see a groundhog hole.”

Jen-Jen walked over to the hole and watched. She wanted to see if the groundhog would see his shadow or not.

“I really hope he doesn’t see his shadow,” said Jen-Jen. “Because if he doesn’t, then spring will be right around the corner.”

Jen-Jen waited and soon she saw a furry groundhog poke his head out of his hole. She watched, holding her breath and to her delight, when the groundhog came out of his hole, he did not see his shadow.

“It is going to be an early spring,” smiled Jen-Jen happily.

As soon as Jen-Jen went inside her house, she got out her seeds catalogue and started selecting which seeds she was going to plant.

“I am so excited that spring will soon be here,” said Jen-Jen.
