Neon Cop On a Camping Trip

Grade 3 Level Neon Cop Stories Summer Stories Summer Story Challenge 2018

“I am so happy to be camping in BC,” said Neon Cop. “BC is such a beautiful province.”

Neon Cop was busy setting up his tent when the park manager stopped by his camp site.

“I just wanted to remind you that we do have a fire ban in place because of all the forest fires in BC right now,” said the park manager. “If you do see anyone starting one, please call me right away.”

“Absolutely,” said Neon Cop.

Neon Cop knew all about the dangerous forest fires that occur in BC. He used to live in BC and he also knows that having a campfire in hot summer weather can be extremely dangerous.

After Neon Cop’s tent was set up, he decided he would go into town to get some dinner. As he was driving out of the campground, he noticed a man was starting a campfire. Neon Cop called the park manager and then he confronted the man.

“Excuse me sir,” said Neon Cop. “You do know there is a fire ban, don’t you?”

“Yes,” said the man. “I do.”

“Then why are you having a campfire?” asked Neon Cop. “You do realize that parts of BC are burning right now because of forest fires.”

“And who are you?” asked the man.

“I am Neon Cop,” said Neon Cop.

“I don’t know who you are,” said the man. “But I am pretty sure you have no jurisdiction here.”

“You are right,” said Neon Cop. “I don’t. However, I just called the park manager. He is on his way.”

“Oh,” said the man, quickly putting out the campfire.

“Thank you,” said Neon Cop, waiting for the park manager to show up. “We don’t need any more forest fires.”
